Women, Elderly, Handicap, and Veterans.
Our most vulnerable unsheltered citizens…
To get started, THUP’s goal is to build 50 tiny homes for the 50 or so Veterans in Chattanooga, who remain unsheltered.
What?
…Is a Tiny Home? For unsheltered people: A tiny home is a small, independent dwelling shelter for safe, temporary living when no other alternative exists. The tiny home can be called many things, but overall, it is an acceptable, safe, movable, and immediate solution to a complex housing crisis for unsheltered people.
Problem: The root cause of the problem is zoning issues prohibiting certain small structures for human habitation. Currently there is not a lawful inclusion for “tiny homes,” however a great demand for immediate shelter still exists in Chattanooga, TN.
Solution: A rapid design and tiny home build campaign focused on developing innovative, safe, and available homes involving the public and private sectors in a cooperative process building low-cost, safe, and available housing. The targeted goals will be measured by our combined efforts and improved upon by rapid analysis.
How?
Think outside the box… Groupthink is the enemy of innovation; creation is the result of inclusion. WE WORK TOGETHER…And allow for ideas to be tested.
